 Kyle Hale
- Tell us about you?
- Most people think I don’t like them when I first meet them, and I don’t know why. I tend to mumble a lot, which means I always have to repeat whatever lame joke I tried to stop from escaping my mouth. I think humanity’s greatest asset is our ability to build and create incredible things and use them for good, unlike bears. They only create evil. I play guitar in the best band that no one has ever heard of in Fort Smith. Your assignment is to find out which one it is.
- What is your approach to life?
- Things don’t happen for a reason. They just happen. Sometimes, for fun, I just sit back and let them.
- Where have you worked?
- Well, I started my illustrious rise to fame at a Sonic in Booneville, Ar. Of course, everyone in Booneville has worked there at one time or another, so not content to smell like ice cream and grease forever I moved up to retail management in Fort Smith. A small music store conveniently (and stupidly) named The CD Store needed cool people to pretend to pay attention to customers while listening to music, which was right up my alley. By transforming the store into a haven for the hip and artistic, I managed to create a financial black hole and the store soon closed. Several other unsatisfying stints in the retail world left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I decided it was time to get a real job. Or at least one that pays well.
 - Why Fort Smith, Arkansas?
- Growing up in Iowa, I saw people try to hang-glide by towing themselves behind trucks. This seemed really dumb to me, and apparently my father shared the same thought and so he moved us to a place that had mountains. I thought my dad was a pretty smart fellow after that.
- If you could meet one celebrity tomorrow, who would it be?
- Easy. Kurt Vonnegut or Charlie Chaplin. One of them taught me that things just happen and all we can do is let them, but the other one let me know that the best indication of who we are is how we react to them. I’ll let you wonder which one is which.
- Last question — What is your favorite song?
- Finally, a hard question! Probably We Vibrate, We Do by So Many Dynamos or Electioneering by Radiohead. Both of those songs rock so freakin’ hard that I’m usually out of breath by the time they’re over with. I prefer to see bands live, and the two best shows I’ve been to are TV on the Radio at a small dive bar in Fayetteville or The Hives at The House of Blues in Dallas. My pockets were inside out after that last one. No joke.
